Pricing

How is my Detroit price worked out?

From the photo you send. Each item is matched to the Metro Detroit catalog and the total appears before you book anything. If the picture missed a piece, add another photo and the number updates.

Is there a minimum charge?

Yes, $100. A single sofa at $126 or a queen mattress at $103 already covers it.

Does a basement carry cost more?

No. The basement stairs, attic steps and third-floor walk-ups are all built into the flat price.

When does volume pricing beat item pricing?

On big jobs: a garage, a basement or a whole house. Volume runs from $241 for a quarter of the truck to $732 for all sixteen cubic yards, and you’re charged the lower of the two totals.

Are there fees added at the door?

No. The crew doesn’t re-price the job on arrival; if you add items, send new photos and the quote updates first.

Booking and Pickup Day

What’s the earliest pickup I can get?

Often within a day or two, and sometimes the same day when a crew is free in your part of the metro. The quote page shows the times that are open.

Does someone have to be home?

Not necessarily. A garage code, a lockbox or a neighbor with a key works, and you get photos when the job is done.

Who are the crews?

Vetted, insured local haulers working through JunkRabbit. You deal with us for the price and the booking; they bring the truck and do the carrying.

Do you work in snow and ice?

Yes. Pickups continue through winter — just mention icy steps or a snowed-in alley so the crew can plan.

What We Take

Do you haul tires?

Yes, and the City of Detroit’s bulk pickup won’t. One tire is $22; a set of four is $87.

Can you take concrete and brick?

Yes, priced by the quarter truck at $219. See renovation debris removal.

What about paint?

Latex paint is a priced item — $30 a gallon can and $52 a five-gallon bucket. Solvents and fuels belong in a hazardous-waste drop-off.

Where does everything go?

Usable furniture to donation, fridges and freezers to refrigerant recovery and metal recycling, electronics to recyclers, and whatever’s left to a licensed disposal site.

Local Pickup Rules

What does Detroit’s bulk pickup allow?

Up to two cubic yards per household each week, at the curb by 7 a.m. and gone by 9 p.m. Renovation pieces must be under 50 pounds, and tires, concrete, brick, asphalt and shingles are excluded. More on the hub page.

How is Dearborn different?

Dearborn picks up household bulk items weekly next to the cart, but heavy items, carpet, large quantities and some appliances need a special pickup that the City charges for.

Why won’t Warren take my air conditioner?

Warren collects window units and dehumidifiers only after a licensed technician removes the Freon and tags the unit. We take them untagged and handle the recovery ourselves.

Which areas do you cover?

The City of Detroit and all of Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties, plus Ypsilanti and the Monroe County towns just past the Wayne line. The full area list has every neighborhood page.
